#2 Best Place to Live and You’ll Live Better Longer too!

Does being a friendlier state increase life expectancy?

So you may have heard that last week McKinney was named the #2 Place in the United State to live in a Money Magazine list, but did you know that Collin County has the state’s highest life expectancy too? You can see a map outlining the lifeexpectancy of each county on this interactive map.  The data from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington covers 20 years of statistics and shows the changes in life expectancy by county and gender over time.

In Collin County in 2009 men had a life expectancy of  80.5 years and women 83.1 years.  While many counties across the United States life expectancies decreased Collin County statistics have actually increased.

So does that have a correlation to the ranking from Money Magazine where they evaluate job opportunities, great schools, housing, low crime rates and quality health care?

Or is it because everyone is generally friendlier in Texas (out-of-state buyers always make that comment).

What do you think?
